Recently Newsweek magazine gave the standard citizenship test to 1000 U. S. citizens and the result shown 62% passed while 38% failed. The U.S. citizenship test includes 100 questions based on five categories: American history, American government, systems of government, rights and responsibilities, and incorporated civics. For the test-taker 10 questions out of 100 are selected randomly and any person who desires to become a citizen must be able to answer at least 6 correctly. The result is very much surprising for all and the experts interviewed by the magazine blame for national cluelessness and on the huge educational gap among the rich and poor.
