Tropical Storm Claudette 2009Tropical Storm Claudette 2009 will expect to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle by early Monday on August 17 at 6:00pm. A satellite image from ET Sunday shows a Tropical Storm Claudette near the Florida Panhandle. Tropical Storm Claudette is the third named of the 2009 Atlantic storm season. All ready, Tropical Storm Claudette is sending winds and rain over parts like Destin, Florida, and Panama City Beach. Claudette had winds of at least 50 mph (85 km/h) and its center was located about 120 miles southeast of Pensacola, Florida, at 5 p.m. Claudette resulted from rough seas off the coast of Panama City, Florida. Storm surges and isolated tornadoes also were possible across portions of North Florida. The National Hurricane Center was planning to send a hurricane plane to investigate Ana as well as the depression near Florida. The busiest part of the Atlantic storm season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, is from about the last week of August to mid-October. A tropical storm warning was in effect from the Alabama-Florida border east to the Aucilla River. The Tropical Storm effects were also seen in the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Eustatius, the British Virgin Islands, Barbuda, Guadeloupe, St. Barthelemey, Nevis, and also others part. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said the storm was expected to make landfall Sunday evening.
