A big name in print media is Vibe magazine closing immediately which focused on hip hop news and trends according to The New York Times. As Vibe magazine is one more print media closure because it faced the time of recession for print advertising and declining distribution as more people turn to the Web for news and entertainment.
Vibe is one of the long running magazines. Danyel Smith the editor in chief has made official statement for magazine and expressing his feelings towards the decision.
Smith stated “On behalf of the Vibe content staff, it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week overall, but as the doors of Vibe”
Vibe magazine was founded sixteen years ago in 1993 by Quincy Jones. Then it was acquired by Wicks Group in 2006. The last Vibe magazine was for June/July 2009 issue with “Eminem” on the cover.
