Social security number, date of birth, mother’s maiden name, etc. are some of the personal details that may be required to be verified by individuals as a security measure to bypass certain security features put in place by certain banks etc. when dealing with financial transactions. Exposing these details to strangers whether knowingly or unknowingly could result in identity theft fraud. Such crimes are on a high in the recent times and ignorance of the victims about data security etc. was what the fraudsters had capitalized upon. The financial losses that the victims suffer apart, their credit reports are left seriously tarnished. The victims have to go through a harrowing time in proving their identity and saving themselves from the criminal proceedings that follow an identity theft fraud. |
