Google Announced the "Google Online Marketing Challenge" 2009 winnersGoogle just announced the winners of the 2009 Google Online Marketing Challenge. Congratulations to the global winning team from Deakin University in Australia for placing as the global winners. The winner team was taught by Chia Yao Lee. The global winning team of Andrew Kidd, Richard Blakely, Kevin Fung, Clinton Hinze, Katalin Kish and Howard Lien worked with a local indoor play centre Little TiGrrs, to create a well-crafted campaign. This was the second Google Online Marketing Challenge for year. This year 2,187 teams took part across 57 countries and it was representing a 36% increase in participation from last year. Google Online Marketing Challenge gives undergraduate and post-graduate students hands-on exposure to online marketing. Each team receives the equivalent of US$200 to spend on Google AdWords advertising. Then they have to work with a local business to devise an effective online marketing campaign with the help of their professors. For online marketing campaign, teams are given three weeks to mastermind the strategy before submitting a campaign report to an international judging panel of professors. This year’s competition was bigger and better in every ways like more teams, more students, more universities and a significant improvement in the quality of campaigns and reports. Three Regional Winners: 1. The APAC winner comes from the International College of Management Sydney (Australia) taught by Kevin Reid. The team of Carmen Lam, Katalin Esztergalyos, Akos Toth, Yeon Jin Kim, Iris Yim, Trinh Nguyen and Sina Dai, worked with a hair salon Cranium. 2. The Americas winner comes from James Madison University (US) taught by Professor Theresa Flaherty. The team of Rachel Bruton, Meredith Rauh and Brandon Sockwell, worked with a local tour operator Mobile Tour org. 3. The EMEA winner comes from the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland) taught by Marcin Dudek. The team of Agata Rundo, Karolina Szmit, Marta Grzymala, Tomasz Nowiński and Karol Milewski, worked with a contact lens retailer Soczewki. For anyone interested in competing in the 2010 Challenge, formal registrations will open later this year, but in the meantime you can register your interest. |
