Air France crash data may be be lost at sea, but Brazil trying to find the Jet in under the sea.France has said the flight recorders from the plane, which went missing en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris with 228 passengers and crew on board early on Monday, are unlikely to be found due to the extreme depth.

Black box tampering 1988
I don't think if the French have anything to do with it the black boxes will be found. In 1988 when an Airbus crashed in an airshow they tampered with the black boxes the authorities found.
I don't buy the story that finding the boxes at depth will be almost impossible. Damage and breaks in submarine communication cables at similar depths are regularly done and the boxes have sonar transponders.
Modern nuclear attack subs have sensors with almost sci-fi like capabilities. It's not good news IMO that the sub looking for the boxes is French.
