30 killed, 28 injured in Chitradurga bus mishap

At least 30 people, including 10 children, were killed and 28 others injured when a Bangalore-bound bus in which they drove overturned and caught fire near Challanakeri area in the district today.

The bus hit a barricade and capsized, police said adding, its fuel tank caught fire. The incident happened around 2:15.
The driver was among those killed.

Twenty-five of the wounded have been hospitalized Challanakeri and three were taken to a government hospital here.

The Government has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the relatives of the deceased.
